Dress Code Policy

2024-2025 Dress Code Policy

Please note the following changes:

  • No more Formal Friday dress: We will only require formal dress on Mondays and special occasions, like the Academic Awards Ceremony and Commencement.

  • Forman Spirit Options: For our Tuesday through Friday class dress, students will be allowed to wear Forman sweatshirts in good repair (hoodies included) during the academic day. We will be providing more Forman polos and button-downs in the School Store, and some of our online stores (like Tommy Hilfiger) will have the option to add Forman crests to some clothing, like quarter-zips.

  • Cardigans and Blazers with Dresses: Students who choose to wear dresses will only need to wear a blazer or a cardigan if their dress is sleeveless.

  • Baseball Caps: While baseball caps still may not be worn during the academic day, they may be worn in the Dining Hall after school.

If you have any questions, please contact Matthew Bender P'27, Dean of Students, at matthew.bender@formanschool.org or 860.567.1836.

Community Service Requirement

As a part of our commitment to fostering a culture of service and civic engagement, every student is required to complete a minimum of 15 community service hours per academic year. Please note that these hours do not include any disciplinary or National Honor Society (NHS) hours.

It is crucial that all students complete their required community service hours by the specified deadline. Failure to do so will result in the doubling of required hours for the following year. We believe this policy encourages accountability and reinforces the importance of active participation in community service endeavors.

If you or your child are looking for opportunities to complete the required community service hours during breaks, please consider reaching out to local nonprofits or community organizations.
